What's up Hashimoto-ites? I'm in a great mood for someone who is getting ready to spend a day collecting her own saliva (which, I guess, is much better than trying to spend a day collecting someone else's saliva) and say bye-bye to solid food for a couple of weeks. To be honest I'm scared spitless (HA!) and giddy with anticipation at the same time. I don't know exactly what to expect, but I'm glad I don't! This must be where I actually go cray to the ayzee... I am a walking, talking dichotomy!
I had breakfast with my beloved friend Nan this morning, and I learned something. First, never give up all grains and dairy and then casually order a gluten free pancake with a side of bacon. Seriously, don't. I just thought that since I'm going on this liquid diet and I've been off the grains, dairy, etc. for almost 4 weeks with no result whatsoever that I'd be just fine. Well, think again!
Within an hour of eating the delicious, fluffy pancake, I got a tummy ache (I know, call the wahhhhmbulance for me, ha ha) and my heart started to race a little. This, folks, is an adverse reaction. Plain as day! So now I know that I can't do dumb shit like that. And now the real problem is, I don't know exactly what I reacted to because the GF pancakes contain many ingredients... GF flour, eggs, buttermilk, God-only-know-what-else... so I'm just chalking it up to experience.
I did enjoy it thought. A lot. The pancake, not the reaction. And breakfast with my girl. Love her like a rock!
The hubs and I are going to a fancy restaurant this evening, as part one of say-goodbye-to-solid-food weekend, we're eating at the stake house at the Broadmoor. For me it's more about the experience than the actual food, but I know the actual food will be great too, I've dined there in the past and it was amazing. Worth every penny imho because of the service too. You can count on the fact that I will have a John's Cosmo, one of their signature drinks, and I will not be logging it! Sorry, maybe that's cheating but... I don't drink a cocktail very often and so c'est la vie.
